This webinar will uncover the Oral Submucous Fibrosis (OSMF)is a potentially pre-malignant condition of the oral cavity with a high malignant potential of about 3-30%.Areca nut consumed in various forms is the major etiological factor for development of OSMF. The condition is characterized by chronic inflammation, pain and burning sensation in the oral mucosa on eating spicy food and restricted mouth opening due to progressive fibrosis leading not only to loss of oral functions but also affects the patients overall Quality of Life.

It is an event held on Use of mesenchymal stems cells have recently assumed great potential for patients with OSMF owing to their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-fibrotic and angiogenetic potential. Animal studies and few clinical studies have shown promising results with their use. The present paper focuses on the role of mesenchymal stem cells for OSMF and its future.
Features of the webinar
The objective features of webinars will discuss the present treatment strategy for OSMF which majorly includes drug therapy for mild to moderate cases with topical and intralesional steroids, hyaluronidase, use of anti-oxidants, lycopene, immune-modulators and surgical therapy for severe cases have failed to provide complete remission and long lasting results as these are only symptomatic management strategy.
